PKGD been a ‘little busy’ the last couple weeks…the campaign client, Sean Garballey for State Representative, won by a landslide in Tuesday’s special election. It was a great group effort in creating a campaign with a solid message, great visuals and a true grassroots effort in getting out the voters. Congratulations Sean and I look forward to assisting you in the November election!

An update on Northgate Productions, my client Tim has chosen a great logo and business card design. I plan on showing some of the project steps in a case study following the completion of everything, but not before our next step…a Wordpress blog for his company. I am promoting Wordpress as a wonderful solution to people who want to update their own content and create their own unique look quite easily…more on the wonders of Wordpress in a later post.

Another Anime Con, this is one of my pro-bono projects-I love anime-, has asked me to create an ad for the convention in 2008. Another Anime Con 2008:Go West!, this ad will be found in the program guide of Anime Boston 2008, as well as some of the other local conventions, Portcon Maine, Connecticon and others. Look for the half page ad if your going to Anime Boston in two weeks, and of course come to AAC 2008 from October 17th-19th up at the Radisson Hotel in Nashua, NH!

The Campaign to Elect Sean Garballey won a key victory in Tuesday’s primary race. Many people throughout town might have received the literature shown above. The Garballey campaign used PowderKeg Graphic Design and had positive results. With such a strong candidate, there should be a strong visual presence. February has started, and we kick it off with the election primary on Super Tuesday, February 5th. This year I was excited to help my friend Sean Garballey by designing several of his mail and collateral pieces. Sean had a great message to send out, and using PowderKeg Graphic Design, he knew he’d have a great look as well.

The project synopsis included a regular postcard, an oversized postcard and a palm card. All three pieces work together in creating a strong brand for the campaign as well as make the candidate’s name the most prominent element. Other campaign pieces coming to my door displayed an awful sense of color and layout, cliche designs and oversized type, frankly because the candidate had very little to say.

On Tuesday February 5th, I’ll be casting my vote on Sean Garballey, not only because I’ve worked with him, but I respect his drive and know he can represent the interests of the 23rd Middlesex District.

The blog has been a little neglected the last few months, but for good reason, things have been pretty busy at PowderKeg Graphic Design. The campaign for the Alderman was quite exciting and educational.

In fact the campaign for Sean Garballey for State Representative is one of the most recent projects I’ve been working on, we’ve separated Sean from the pack of candidates and enhanced his message using effective design and great photography. PowderKeg has also continued to work with Another Anime Con in Nashua, NH…we’ll be returning this year to layout the third program guide, as well as signage, postcards and more promotional collateral. In addition to working on AAC, PowderKeg is designing for OGC, celebrating it’s 5th year as a gaming convention.

Finally PowderKeg is also working on a logo and brand campaign for Northgate Productions, logo designs have been presented and approved for refinement and development of the stationery. Look for images to be posted in the portfolio section once the design is complete.

As you can see things have been busy, in 2008 PKGD will be expanding it’s portfolio and helping businesses identify themselves in a more crowded visual world.
